FELIX RAPP~ NIGHTHOUSE

Telephone Gallery is pleased to showcase its ninth exhibition with artist Felix Rapp, presented by Ali Bolsey.  In NIGHTHOUSE, Felix Rapp cratfs darkroom montages resembling suspense and horror film posters, enhancing them with hand colouring, airbrushing, or silk screening. Rapp reflects on the inherent ghostly quality of photographic images, citing turn-of-the-century examples and emphasizing the unsettling nature of displacement in horror films. The illusory 'realness' of photographs uncomfortably brings that displacement uncomfortably close to viewers.
